I don’t know about you, but I am unwilling to accept some of the self-defense advice that I read on blogs and discussion posts. For example, most internet martial artists think that all fights end on the ground, with both parties pounding and grappling in a tangled mess.

Pardon me for being blunt, but …

This is utter garbage.

Although, I suppose I understand how someone who doesn’t know the more practical side of martial arts might think that a fight is one, big wrestling match with hits added. (Of course, some people crave grappling, but I pity those who don’t want to “scuffle on the floor.”)

Don’t Settle for Inefficient Martial-Arts Techniques and Strategies

A lot of newbie and frustrated martial artists:
• know they aren’t fast enough to land a solid technique
• worry that their techniques won’t damage enough to stop an attacker
• don’t know the specific targets that will end a fight (and no, the advice in articles on the Net won’t work, like “kick ’em in the groin!”)

Poorly Presented Punch Practices

The alliterative “p”s above may sound good, but it’s a sad fact: There is a lot of mediocre presentation of the basics. This standard, low-to-medium level martial arts instruction just isn’t enough, these days. Times have changed. Attacks are more aggressive.
