No-Sell Selling

"I am NOT a salesperson," You shout. "I am not into selling."

Hey, I understand. It doesn't feel like selling, when you show someone something that they are extremely interested in anyway. Still, I understand if you don't like the feeling that you are pitching a product.

For you, it's much better to provide free services with no thought of selling. Then if later, this person just happens to buy, you don't have to feel guilty that a referral fee came your way.

We already talked about this in a previous article with viral eBooks. You give the book as a gift, and there is a small link at the end of the book. A few folks will click over, and a few of those will buy. You'll get a referral fee.

Let's use a hypothetical example of Viral eBook Marketing, before we move on to other methods of generating passive income:

A few days ago, you wrote to me with your affiliate link. I
placed it at then end of the eBooklet of your choice. In this
case, you chose one one Bodyguard Training, titled
"Move Someone Through a Crowd: Practical Exercises
For The martial Artist."

With my help (free to you), we craft a small banner
and a link for a free eBook Download. Now, everyone
who comes to your site can get a free eBook.

In no time at all, over 100 people have downloaded
your book. (I heard of an free marketing eBook
that was downloaded over 1,000,000 in one year.)

Since the book is filled with valuable information,
and the readers are encouraged to pass the book
along to all of their friends, the viral effect begins.

Each of the hundred gives the book to 10 friends. If
each of these friends passed it along to 10 martial
artists, then you're already up to 10,000 copies floating
around with your link at the end. If you could get
one more round of 'friends' to pass the eBook around,
you'd have over 100,000 of your links out there.

Is this exciting?

The eBook mentioned above (Moving ...Through a Crowd)
has a subtle message in it. The last section of the eBook
gives recommendations on dealing with body grabs.
We start talking about wrist locks. By the end of the
book, some of the readers will feel the need to get
better at flowing from one lock to the next, countering
and reversing any lock effected, and even inventing
their own locks.

And guess what?

They have link right there to the best book on Wrist
Locks, if not the only one, available. And that link
has your affiliate code embedded in it.

I don't know what percentage of your readers will
buy, but you might end up with a fair chunk of
change, wouldn't you agree?

Other Soft-Sell Methods

See. It's great to be able to offer something for free to friends and visitors to your site. You can even offer freebies through emails and sig files in your emails.

It's even better when these freebies aren't filled with blatant sales messages, right?

So, what else could you offer?

You need something of high-quality content, with a minumum of sales pitch.

Note: This combination of high-quality content + minimum sales message is of paramount importance. I hate it when I get some poor excuse for content, that is just a cheap sales message in disguise. Always offer quality.

I have two suggestions for you:

1) Free e-zine subscription Put up a link and or a banner offering your visitors a free subscription to a weekly martial arts e-zine that is loaded with quality, original content. And it contains little or no advertising in each issue.

I have a ton of testimonials about

Martial Arts Matery: A Tell-All of Tips, Tactics, and Techniques

This is a strong method, even though it's very passive. If they like the content in the ezine, eventually they will want to read more. And when they buy, you get your affliate 30%.

It's nice. They get subtle, repeated exposure week after week, as they read the newsletter.

All you have to do is post a link fo rthem with a kind word or two about the e-zine.

By The Way: Have you signed up?

2) Link to Free Martial Arts Reports

Another service you can offer your reader is a link to free martial arts articles and reports.

Either use a text link, or create a small banner. Send them through your affiliate link.

Then, once the cookie is automatically set, they can come back -- over and over again, to read the updated martial arts report section. And anytime they purchase, guess who gets the commission?

Conclusion

The key to making money with a passive method is to just put the link out there. Make an offering for all. Don't expect anything. Make it your goal to provide something of quality for your friends and visitors.

If you persist, your link will catch on. It has to, if it offers quality for free, and it eventually gets enough traffic.

Write me for help, if you need it.
